Jan Stephenson Kelly, Founder & CEO
Jan stewards the creative vision and long-term strategic goals of Spark Craft Studios. She oversees Spark's studio membership program, classes, special events, and community and business partnerships. Jan directs marketing, sales and public relations initiatives. Her past experience includes 10 years in marketing, fundraising, event management and membership-building for prominent non-profit organizations in Massachusetts and California. Jan holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Ithaca College in the fields of Print Journalism and Cultural Anthropology. She received an MBA from Boston University in May 2004, graduating with concentrations in Public and Non-Profit Management and Marketing. Jan enjoys hiking, tennis, travel, scrapbooking, making earrings and necklaces, and the quiet repetitiveness of knitting. She lives in Waltham with her
husband, Jonathan, who also works for a start-up company. On their days off, they enjoy eating at Moody Street restaurants, seeing films at the independent movie theatre, and walks along the Charles River.
Amy Appleyard, Founder & COO
Amy manages all internal operations and day-to-day activities for Spark Craft Studios. She supervises the company's finance and accounting functions, retail and studio operations, and technology systems. Prior to launching Spark, Amy ran her own Theatrical Lighting Design company based out of New York, and worked with theatre and opera companies all over the United States. Amy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech, and she received an MBA from Boston University in May 2004, graduating with concentrations in Public and Non-Profit Management and Finance. Amy enjoys making beaded jewelry and knitting, but most of all she cherishes time spent with her husband, Matt and their three year old daughter, Lola. As a family, they enjoy hiking, cooking, reading, and doing craft projects. |
